Fujairah - A Lesser Known Gem in the UAE

However, there are other emirates as well that depict discerning facets of the country. Fujairah is the only emirate that is bordered by the Gulf of Oman instead of the Persian Gulf. Fujairah Fort



The fort served as a royal residence for the ruling family during the 17th century and is the oldest fort not only in the emirate but in the entire UAE. Its location by date gardens enhances the old-world charm. Travellers looking to peep into the rich past of this Middle Eastern emirate must make reservation for tickets on flights arriving in Fujairah and spend some time at this majestic architectural marvel. It is made from mud bricks and has three divisions namely two round towers, one square tower and several halls. 

Ottoman Mosque 


Spiritual souls booking tickets on cheap flights to spend a memorable holiday in the UAE can consider visiting this grand mosque to add a serene feel to their trip. Colloquially, it is known as Al Bidyah Mosque and is among the oldest places of worship in the country. The exteriors boast four squares and the interiors are peppered with prayer hall, pulpit and arches. The prayer hall features small yet decorative windows and copies of Quran are kept in carved spaces into the walls. 

Fujairah Museum 


This museum is located at a walking distance from the fort. Its extensive collection consists of artefacts that were found during excavations of archaeological sites Qidfa and Bithnah. Most popular ones are made from steel, bronze, brass, gold and silver. Tourists boarding tickets to UAE can take a closer look at the items that belong to the Bronze Age. Painted pottery, pre-Islamic silver coins, carved soapstone vessels and swords are also on display. One of the most unique attractions in the museum is an ostrich egg which is 2200 years old and had been used as a bowl in the past.
