Exploring the Best of Alexandria – Places not to be Missed!!

Being the second largest city of Egypt, Alexandria offers a great variety of things to do and explore to its visitors. Alexander the Great founded this city in 332 BC and established it as a well planned area at that time. Over the course of time, many rulers, including the famous queen Cleopatra, have ruled this place. Montazah Palace Gardens


Situated in the complex of Montazah, the gardens have an importance when it comes to attractions in Alexandria. Around 3000 metres wide, the garden of Montazah has a wide variety of trees and plant life. There are some tropical plants older than 70 years and still in good condition. Big plants like Hokiry, Araliaceae, Victoria, Ropilia and many others can easily be spotted here.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina


Bibliotheca Alexandrina is a great cultural centre and a prominent library located on the shore of Mediterranean Sea. The library is an eleven-storey building and has the capacity to contain more than eight million books. This is one of the best places to see the fabulous architecture and culture of Egypt. 

Cavafy Museum


Named after the famous Greek poet Constantine P. Cavafy, Cavafy museum has a great collection of poet’s photocopies of manuscripts, books and many other things. One can find the translation of poet’s work in around twenty languages by different scholars. While on holiday to Alexandria, this museum is a must watch. 

Fort Qaitbay


Built in the 1480's by Sultan Qaitbay, Fort Qaitbay is a magnificent sample of Egyptian architecture and a great place to explore the Egyptian culture after spending on flight tickets. The fort overlooks Mediterranean Sea which gives it a picture-perfect view. Details of the fort are beautifully designed and decorated. For people who are booking tickets on flights to Alexandria, Fort Qaitbay is a must watch!
